Royal Road formatter

Paste a chapter from Google Docs, Word or a text file. You get clean paragraphs, proper scene breaks and your author’s notes where you want them, ready to paste into Royal Road or Patreon.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or kept.

Formatting from Docs or Word is dropped. Mark italics with *asterisks* and bold with **two**; they come back as real italics and bold.

Author’s notes

Royal Road has its own boxes for notes before and after the chapter. Leave them out here and paste them there.

Three things that trip up Royal Road chapters

Don’t indent, don’t double-space
Royal Road removes indents and adds the space between paragraphs itself; readers choose indents in their own settings. Tabs and blank lines from Docs only add gaps.
One line for a scene break
Put * * * (or ***, ---, #) on a line of its own. It becomes Royal Road’s divider line instead of a row of stray asterisks.
Author’s notes go in their own boxes
The chapter editor has fields for a note before and after the chapter. Notes kept there stay out of the chapter text, the word count and the reader’s flow.
