What changed, and when.
The changes writers will notice, newest first.
Two free tools
A Royal Road formatter: paste a chapter and copy clean paragraphs and scene breaks for Royal Road or Patreon; it runs in your browser and uploads nothing. And a continuity checker for up to three chapters, three free checks a day; your text is deleted an hour after the check. Neither needs an account.
Turn a serial into a book for KDP
Publish can now compile a run of chapters into one book: series name and book number on the title page, author’s notes and Patreon plugs removed (you see each one and can keep any), chapters numbered from 1. Your manuscript isn’t touched. PDFs add 5×8, 5.25×8 and 5.5×8.5 in, with the inside margin set by page count as KDP asks. Switch on the KDP check to add KDP’s rules for title, description, keywords, AI disclosure, cover and page count.
A new home page
The site now opens with what the studio is for: you write, it keeps track of a long book. Pricing, the data page and the feature pages follow the same plain wording.
Keep writing without a connection
The studio saves to your device first and syncs when you are back online. Chapters you have opened stay readable offline. If the same chapter changed elsewhere, both versions are kept. Signing out clears the copies on that device.
Pacing, repeated phrases and the setup tracker
Four tools for books too long to reread: a pacing score per chapter, phrases you keep repeating, which beats from your brief made it onto the page, and whether each setup paid off on time.
A new reading page for beta readers
The page beta readers see was redesigned, with room for notes at the end of each chapter. If chapters leak, the optional watermark now lets you check which reader they came from.
A new translation workspace
Translate paragraph by paragraph with the original beside it, compare and review views, and a glossary built from your story notes so names stay the same in every chapter.
Deleted books wait 30 days
A deleted book goes to Trash on your bookshelf for 30 days. Restore it and it comes back with its chapters, outlines and story notes.
Two-step sign-in
Turn on a code from an authenticator app when you sign in, with recovery codes in case you lose your phone. It also applies when you sign in with Google or reset your password.
PDF export
Typeset PDFs at 6×9 in for a KDP paperback, A5 or Letter, with a contents list, bookmarks, running heads and page numbers.
Co-writing
Give chapters to a co-author and move them from draft to review to final. One person edits a chapter at a time, and the owner sets a monthly credit cap for each member.
Paste a chapter to check it
Write in Google Docs or anywhere else, then paste the chapter or drop the file to check it against everything before it. Also new: copy a chapter for Royal Road or Patreon.
