Hundreds of chapters, in volumes, with every version kept.
Chapters on the left, the page in the middle, the brief and the record on the right. Autosave, history, and a posting schedule that knows about Patreon.
Built for serial length.
Arcs and volumes, hundreds of chapters, and a status on each one: draft, in review, final. Only final chapters count toward your buffer.
- A brief per chapter
- Beats, must-happens and must-nots, next to the page.
- Scrapbook
- Ideas, clippings, images and voice memos, transcribed. Link a note to a book, or drop it into a chapter.
- Bring the book you have
- Import Word, EPUB, Markdown, plain text or a text PDF. Chapters are split for you to check.
Replace text without losing it.
Every chapter keeps its history with a side-by-side diff. Whatever replaces your text, a draft you picked or a suggestion you accepted, the old text is saved first.
- Daily snapshots
- The whole book, every day and before every import. Restore one, and undo the restore.
- Signed
- On a shared book, every version shows who wrote it.
Know how long your buffer lasts.
Posting days for each platform, early-access chapters for Patreon, and a forecast of when the finished chapters run out. The Today page shows what is due and what is ready.
- Warned early
- A note when the buffer drops to two updates, and a four-week forecast at your current pace.
- Missed days
- If a chapter is not final when it is due, the schedule shifts instead of pretending.
Ready to post, in three steps.
Details, a pre-publish check, then the files. The check blocks real problems: missing titles, TODO and TK markers, unhandled continuity issues, overdue threads.
- EPUB 3, Word and PDF
- PDF with a contents list and page numbers, at KDP’s paperback sizes (5×8, 5.25×8, 5.5×8.5 or 6×9 in) with the inside margin set by page count, or A5 and Letter.
- From serial to book
- Compile chapters 31–60 as Book 2: series name on the title page, author’s notes and Patreon plugs removed after you review them, chapters numbered from 1. Turn on the KDP check for KDP’s rules on title, description, keywords, cover and page count.
- Clean copy for Royal Road and Patreon
- Copy a chapter or download .html. Scene breaks become Royal Road's divider; author's notes can stay or go.
- AI-use statement
- None, assisted, or drafted. It goes on the copyright page of your exports.
- Files that come back
- Anything exported here imports back exactly: chapters, titles, volumes, paragraphs.
We export; you post. Nothing is uploaded to Royal Road, Patreon or KDP for you.
Write together without stepping on each other.
Invite a co-author or an editor by email. One person edits a chapter at a time; the others read along and can ask for it.
- Assign chapters
- Give a chapter to a co-author and move it from draft to in review to final.
- Suggestions checked first
- An editor's suggestion is checked against canon before you see it. Accept it and the old text is saved.
- Comments and notes
- Team comments on a paragraph, @mentions, and private notes only you can see.
- The owner pays
- Co-authors use your credits up to a monthly cap you set. Editors never spend them.
Two people typing in one chapter at the same moment: we lock the chapter instead, on purpose.
